Looking for a diverse position in a growing biotech company? Are you dedicated to cross functional engineering in a dynamic environment?
About us
Sophion Bioscience is a leading global life science company founded in 2000 by a group of electrophysiologists who were passionate about making patch clamping objectives independent of user skills.
We specialize in developing and manufacturing automated patch clamping and cell line solutions. With our complete technical, biological, and application support, we help our partners pioneer ion channel research and drug discovery within cardiology and neuroscience, among others. We take the voodoo out of patch clamping to provide faster, more accurate, and objective patch clamping results for our users.
Through the continued development of our QPatch Compact, QPatch, and Qube 384 platforms, we offer uncompromised data quality in a user-friendly environment, from assay setup to advanced data analysis.
Sophion is a team of over 100 members. We are headquartered in Denmark and have subsidiaries in the United States, Japan, and China.
What we are looking for:
System engineer with skills and interest to contribute and take leading part in diverse and broad aspects within development of high-tech lab instruments and a desire to work closely and in the middle of a group of other professionals like hardware and software engineers, biologists, physicists and end-users to create world class analytical solutions for biological applications within pharmaceutical research.
About the Role:
Our instruments are a succesfull combination of mechanics, electronics, fluidics, embedded and higher level software. As member of our team, you will contribute both to the development of future solutions for new products, as well as the continuous development of solutions for our current products on the market. As a system engineer you will take central part in making different components come together in the best possible manner and be key to help defining how individual components are developed while having an eye on the final product together with the product owner and project team.
We will be looking for candidates with interest, skills and personal drive to thrive in the cross-functional interface with both attention to detail and overall experience of the end-user. We imagine you find it natural to work in areas such as designing 3D mechanical parts, putting together various hardware components, do a bit of wiring/soldering as well as coding high level scripts on Pi/Arduino units as part of development towards the end product.
Through different combinations of co-teaching and relevant hands-on assignments, the onboarding process in Sophion will introduce you to the various key applications, technologies and challenges we are facing during daily work.
We can offer a relaxed but international atmosphere in a flat organization where processes are value-driven, decision paths are short and R&D developments usually enter a short turnaround cycle being quickly distributed to actual users which provides a good sense of ownership and satisfaction. Advanced, well-functioning and user-friendly systems is key for success and your contribution to the team will help our customers in pharmaceutical research throughout the world in fighting diseases and bringing new life saving medicine to the market.
Experience from the life science industry is a plus, but definitely not a must. An interest in working with cross-functional development is required.
