Its mission is to accelerate research and startups to bring forward bold solutions that improve human and planetary health. BII supports collaborative, interdisciplinary innovation across Life Sciences and Deep Tech, helping transform cutting-edge research into viable companies so that new discoveries can deliver real impact for people and society.
As a Senior Associate, you will join BII's Quantum team, one of three specialist teams in our Venture Creation department alongside Human Health and Planetary Health. Working at the forefront of quantum and quantum-enabling technologies, you will help identify, evaluate, and support promising early-stage startups and spinouts from idea to company. From scouting new ventures and assessing opportunities to working closely with founders throughout their growth journey, you will play a key role in strengthening both the next generation of quantum companies and the broader quantum ecosystem.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Be the anchor person for the start-ups and spinouts and facilitate the development of the business case, the funding strategy, the team, the Board, and the startups' roadmaps for bringing their products to market
- Scouting new potential spinouts in close collaboration with research groups and university innovation hubs
- Be part of doing due diligence of applications with external parties and junior staff
- Co-developing and refining our program offerings
- Support the ongoing efforts to establish and maintain good investor relations
- Support activities across the ecosystem and participate in conferences and other efforts to establish Denmark as an internationally recognized hub for quantum technology.
Professional & Personal Qualifications
Skills
We are looking for someone with a strong interest in both advanced technology and commercialization, and in engaging with the founders who drive these ventures. Besides this, you bring the following competencies and skills:
- MSc, MD, or PhD level in a relevant field (physics, engineering, or similar)
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience working with deep tech ventures, innovation ecosystems, venture capital, startup development, research commercialization, or related fields
- Demonstrated experience with early-stage deep tech projects and start-ups
- Experience in the evaluation, selection, and execution of deep tech projects toward value-creating endpoints
- Demonstrated ability to understand research results and the potential transition of these into commercial opportunities
- Established network within the deep tech investment and research communities
- Project management skills and ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in English at a professional level, both written and spoken
- Strong stakeholder management skills
