As we prepare to launch our first product in the personal care sector and scale up production, we are seeking a 
QC & Compliance Specialist to ensure our processes and products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance.
This role is critical to supporting our transition from lab-scale innovation to commercial manufacturing, ensuring product stability, regulatory readiness, and robust quality systems.
Position summary:
The 
QC & Compliance Specialist will play a key role and lead initiatives in establishing and maintaining quality control systems to ensure product and process integrity, while also supporting regulatory compliance and product development. This hands-on, cross-functional role involves developing quality management processes, coordinating internal and external testing, monitoring product stability, supporting regulatory filings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product readiness.
Ideal candidates will have experience in 
quality assurance/control within the food and/or personal care sectors, with additional expertise in regulatory compliance and bioprocessing or fats & oils considered a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
Quality Control & Product Stability
- Define quality parameters, product specifications, and implement QC protocols across lab, pilot, and commercial-scale production, including HACCP planning. 
- Conduct hands-on internal QC testing and coordinate external testing, ensuring alignment with production timelines and consistent batch performance. 
- Monitor and analyze product stability data to provide insights for R&D and production teams. 
- Collaborate with the scale-up team to define and implement QC checkpoints in pilot and commercial-scale manufacturing, and provide insights using QC data. 
 
 
Regulatory Affairs & Compliance
- Support regulatory filings and testing coordination within food and personal care frameworks. 
- Maintain documentation and traceability for audits and certifications. 
- Contribute to the development of a regulatory roadmap aligned with company goals. 
 
 
Quality Management Systems
- Build and maintain QMS suitable for scale-up and commercial manufacturing, ensuring GMP-like compliance. 
- Organize product and batch documentation, including QC data. 
- Train internal teams on quality procedures and best practices. 
 
 
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D in food science, biotechnology, chemistry, microbiology, or a related field 
- 3+ years of experience in quality control or quality assurance within food and/or personal care. 
- Experience with product stability testing and QMS implementation in food and/or personal care. 
- Familiarity with certifications and regulatory frameworks in food and/or personal care. 
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. 
- Excellent communication and documentation skills. 
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, continuously changing and cross-functional startup environment. 
 
 
Bonus points:
- Experience in regulatory submissions within food and/or personal care for novel ingredients 
- Experience with third-party lab coordination and external QC testing. 
- Knowledge of specific B2B ingredient regulations within personal care or food. 
- Experience in scaling quality systems from lab to commercial production. 
- Experience working with lipids. 
- Familiarity with fermentation-based or biotechnology production processes.
