About the Company
Aquark Technologies is a quantum technology company that believes in improving the world through innovative solutions. Our mission is to harness the power of cold atoms to drive disruptive capabilities and innovation in the quantum technology sector
About The Role
As a laboratory technician - Vacuum, you will specialise in vacuum technology where you will establish and maintain ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environments that are critical to advancing quantum sensor technology. You day to day will be focused on creating and maintaining UHV environments as well as constructing in-house systems which have been designed and tailored to application-specific needs.
Your Responsibilities
- Build and maintain ultra-high vacuum (UHV) environments critical to the function of cold atom traps and therefore quantum sensors like atomic clocks, gravity systems, and metrology fields.
- Operate, manage, and maintain in-house vacuum systems and other laboratory vacuum capabilities, including complex equipment.
- Identify technical and operational risks, proposing and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Maintain transparent and open communication channels with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
- Create detailed documentation, reports, and presentations to communicate project progress, findings, and developments.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
Required Skills
- Experience in ultra-high vacuum systems or comparable complex technical processes.
- Proficiency in Python and other technical tools for data analysis, modelling, or automation desired.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in building, assembling, or prototyping mechanical or electromechanical systems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with experience in report writing and collaborative projects.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyse, and resolve technical and operational issues in high-stakes environments.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and engage in continuous learning to adopt new skills.
