SNIPR Biome’s main goal is to engineer microbiomes using CRISPR technology, to combat antimicrobial resistance and to treat a number of serious and life-threatening diseases, such as diabetes, infectious diseases and cancer. The working environment is fun, fast-paced, collaborative and outcome focused.
We are looking for a student assistant to strengthen the Laboratory Management team playing a key role in maintaining the laboratory, while giving you the opportunity to gain experience in an exciting company.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a student to support the group with, but not limited to, the following tasks:
- Laboratory maintenance and organization (e.g. stocking of consumables, equipment maintenance, media and buffer preparation and handling biological waste)
- Perform a variety of standard microbiology techniques, including minipreps and bacterial culture in sterile conditions.
- Perform other ad-hoc laboratory tasks
Requirements
- The successful candidate is diligent in their work, a good eye for details, has good communication skills and wants to have a supportive role in the lab.
- We are looking for students majoring in biotechnology, chemistry, life sciences or within a similar field. We are interested in applications from students starting the second year of their bachelor’s degree.
- Prior experience in lab working with microbiology is a plus, but a strong desire to learn and an interest in this field is equally important.
- Good knowledge of verbal and written English is a must.
The job will be 10-15 hours a week, primarily on Mondays and Thursdays, in our labs at Lersø Parkallé near Ryparken station in Østerbro. There will be flexibility around exams etc.
