Do you want to contribute to the translational research at IO Biotech, a clinical-stage biotech company? We are seeking a motivated Research Associate to join our team in Rockville, Maryland.
Under the guidance of senior personnel, you will play a pivotal role in research studies focused on performance of clinical biomarker immunoassays. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a highly talented and energetic individual to contribute to a growing pipeline of assets in clinical development. Reporting to the VP Precision Medicine & Biomarkers you will join an exciting and dynamic environment focused on developing cutting-edge immunomodulatory cancer therapeutics. This position will be based on-site in IO Biotech’s established state-of-the-art US laboratories in Rockville, Maryland.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Perform immunoassays, including ELISpot and ELISA, flow cytometry and other cell-based assays such as viability/toxicity and cell killing.
- Maintain mammalian cell lines, culture primary human immune cells using aseptic technique
Perform molecular assays such as DNA & RNA extraction, plasmid purification, RT-PCR, cloning and transfection.
- Prepare reagents and operate lab instruments according to procedures
- Operate and maintain instrumentation and equipment, responsibilities for general lab duties
- Contribute to experimental design and plans with guidance from senior scientific staff
- Analyze data, contribute to technical reports, data summaries
- Adhere to and draft laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Maintain current, complete, electronic notebooks and laboratory records in compliance with good scientific and regulatory practices
Perform a variety of tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned at an ad hoc basis
Qualifications & Skills
- MS in life sciences with 4 or more years of relevant biotech/pharma industry experience or BS in life sciences with 6 or more years of relevant biotech/pharma industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with primary human cells, PBMCs, and mammalian cell line tissue culture and aseptic techniques
- Experience in immunoassays (ELISA, ELISpot) and flow cytometry
- Experience in molecular biology techniques (WB, DNA, RNA extraction, RT-PCR)
- Team player with can-do attitude, while attentive to detail
